Coimbatore: The shampoo based hair colour format has had a dramatic growth in India, in the last four years. Currently, the market size of shampoo hair colour is pegged at Rs 330 crore growing at a CAGR of 61 per cent.
One of the main reasons for this shift initially, was the easy and quick product usage, perfect for time-pressed consumers. Now, with all of us being home and preferring to not step-out, the shampoo based hair colours are more in-demand.
Understanding this, companies in this business are rolling out new products. Godrej has said it has created a ‘disruption’ in the hair colour category with Godrej Expert Easy, a shampoo based hair colour.
Priced at Rs 25, it is a ‘modern and convenient way of hair colouring’, the company said and added that just like shampoo, one simply needs to apply the product on dry hair and in five minutes the entire colouring process is completed. “It is enriched with natural ingredients like amla and shikakai.”
Vasmol and V-Care too have launched new shampoo hair colour products.
