Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, DMK president M K Stalin and leaders of various political partes condoled the death of LJP leader and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
In his message, Purohit said he was saddened to know about the death of Paswan, who had handled several important Portfolios including Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Chemicals and Fertilisers, Mines, Communications, Information Technology, Railways and Labour and Welfare with full dedication and engraved his strong mark.
“Founder of the Lok Janshakti Party, he was a long time Parliamentarian and a visionary leader with political wisdom”, the Governor said, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.
Palaniswami, in his message, said Paswan entered politics at a very young age to serve the society and had tirelessly worked for upholding social justice.
Stating he worked hard for the upliftment of the downtrodden, Palaniswami said Paswan was elected to Parliament eight times and had held various portfolios in the Union Cabinet.
Stalin tweeted “heartfelt condolences to @iChiragPaswan and his family on the demise of Thiru #RamVilasPaswan, Founder of @LJP4India and Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution”.
Leaders including Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss, MDMK general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko, TNCC president K S Alagiri, VCK leader and Lok Sabha MP Thol Thirumavalavan and Puthiya Tamilagam leader K Krishnasamy also condoled the death of Paswan.
