Covid-19: How fresh cases are falling down in Tamilnadu

Chennai: In positive signs, fresh cases of Covid-19 fell further in Tamilnadu on Monday, with 3,536 persons testing positive for the infection. Also, a little over 38,000 people are remaining under treatment.

Chennai reported 885 fresh cases, after having recorded over 1,000 infections a day for the past few weeks. Another 4,515 persons were discharged after treatment, taking the number of persons discharged so far to 6,42,152.

According to Health department officials, “in the next few weeks, we are hoping to completely control the spread. Cases are steadily coming down because of our test, track and treat strategy.”

As far as Chennai’s neighbouring districts are concerned, Chengalpattu on Monday registered 241 new cases, Kancheepuram saw 92 infections in the last 24 hours, and Thiruvallur posted 172 positive cases.

The districts of Cuddalore and Coimbatore on Monday witnessed 86 and 290 new cases, respectively. As many as 49 Covid-19 patients died today, taking the total number of fatalities in the State due to the pandemic to 10,691.
