All neighbourhoods in Chennai now have less than 1,000 Covid-19 cases

Chennai: In yet another sign of Covid-19 curve flattening in the city, no zone in Chennai now has more than 1,000 cases. This morning, the total positive cases dropped to 11,107.

Interestingly, in a survey the Greater Chennai Corporation said out of the 6,389 samples tested, 2,062 were positive for Covid-19 antibodies.

Since the lockdown, Chennai has recorded 1,93,299 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,78,623 have recovered. Chennai is showing 92 per cent recovery rate. Nearly 3,569 persons have died due to the viral infection.

As per records, 449 persons have died in Anna Nagar, 403 persons have died in Teynampet and 397 casualties are reported in Kodambakkam.

On 23 October, 11,656 tests were carried out by the city Corporation’s health department.

The Chennai Corporation gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19.

Anna Nagar has 972 positive cases and 918 persons in Kodambakkam have the virus.
The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 62.14 per cent of the patients are male and 37.86 per cent are female.

Around 18.54 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 50-59 years. Kodambakkam and Anna Nagar have the highest recovery rate.
