Chennai: Fresh Covid-19 infections recorded last week (19-25 October) in India were nearly 16 per cent less than the previous week’s tally while deaths from the virus fell by 19 per cent during this period.
Also, India’s Covid recovery rate surges past 90 per cent, according to the latest figures available.
“India has crossed landmark milestones in its fight against Covid-19. More than 70 lakh patients have been cured and discharged so far. This has led to a surge in the national Recovery Rate, which leaped past 90 per cent,” the Union Health Ministry has said.
According to the Ministry, 75 per cent of the new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States/UTs viz. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
It added 79 per cent of the new cases are from 10 States and UTs. Kerala continues to be the State reporting a very high number of new cases with more than 8,000 cases followed by Maharashtra with more than 6,000 cases.
