Assembly polls: Kamal to hold crucial meet 2 November

Chennai: Days after the executive committee meeting of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), the party’s president Kamal Haasan will hold a series of meetings with the district secretaries and senior leaders 2 and 3 November in Chennai.

Sources say Kamal will personally address district secretaries and party office-bearers numbering over 700 in different batches on both the days. With Covid-19 pandemic threat still on, the meeting would be conducted with social distancing.

Sources say that various issues including gearing up for Assembly elections in Tamilnadu, reaching the interior and remote villages of the State, the various campaigning ways among others would be discussed.

Kamal Haasan is expected to brief the partymen on their election strategies and membership drive among others.

Remember after the the party’s General Body and Executive Committee meeting recently, Kamal Haasan was announced as the Chief Ministerial candidate of MNM.

MNM made its electoral debut in the 2019-Parliamentary polls and the by-elections held in Taminadu simultaneously. It garnered a poll percentage of 3.72 in the Lok Sabha elections. In Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency, the party polled around 1.44 lakh votes and in Chennai South it polled around 1.35 lakh votes.
