TN reports further decline in Covid-19 cases, Health Minister explains reason

Chennai: Tamilnadu reported a further decline in cases on Tuesday with the number of Covid-19 cases going down from 2,481 on Monday to 2435 on Tuesday.

State Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar said the recovery rate and the control of spread in Tamilnadu are better than even developed countries.

“This is because of multi-pronged ground level strategy and the hardwork of our healthcare personnel. Soon, we will be able to fully control the pandemic, but we need the support of people,” he added.

He urged the people to follow the government’s instructions on Covid precautions during the festive and winter seasons.

“When developed countries like Europe and the US are reporting a second wave of infections and while the number of cases is rising in States like Kerala and Delhi, Tamilnadu is reporting fewer cases,” he added.

Of the fresh infections, Chennai logged 669, Coimbatore 238 and Chengalpet 136, while the remainder was scattered across Tamilnadu, a health department bulletin said.

The 7.31 lakh plus tally covers the State capital’s 2,01,848. The deceased included a man and a woman aged 90 and 42 respectively.
