TN now has 343 containment zones, 28 districts report zero deaths

Chennai: Even after restrictions were removed, Tamilnadu is showing a downward trend in Covid-19 cases. The State government has announced that there ware 343 Covid-19 containment zones in 28 districts.

At least 28 districts reported zero deaths on Monday. According to a bulletin released by the Health department, while Chennai reported 10 deaths, eight other districts – Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Nagapattinam, Salem, Tiruvallur, Tirunelveli, Tirupur and Villupuram – reported one death each.

There were 18 deaths registered and 75,277 samples tested for coronavirus. Chennai added 585 infections; 589 patients were discharged and 10 deaths were reported.

The fatalities reported on Monday is the lowest since June. As many as 75,277 samples were tested and cumulatively 1,06,36,999 specimens have undergone RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) scrutiny in 207 Covid-19 labs in Tamilnadu.
