Chennai: Chennai has been showing a downward trend of Covid-19 cases. Based on Greater Chennai Corporation’s data, the city has shown a decline in cases by 3.7 per cent in the last seven days.
Nearly two lakh persons have recovered from the viral infection signifying that the number of patients being discharged daily is higher than the fresh cases being reported.
According to the civic body, this morning the tally of total positive cases was 5,098 which is at three per cent.
Since the lockdown, Chennai has recorded 2,08,668 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,99,805 have recovered over the months. The recovery rate in the city is at 95 per cent.
Nearly 3,765 persons have died due to the viral infection. As per records, 474 persons have died in Teynampet, 424 persons have died in Anna Nagar and 416 casualties are reported in Kodambakkam.
On 16 November, 8,024 tests were carried out by the City Corporation’s health department.
Currently, Anna Nagar has 397 positive cases, 279 cases in Kodambakkam and 254 active cases in Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar. In Anna Nagar, 21,787 persons recovered from the viral disease which is the highest in the city.
Nearly, 63.27 per cent of those affected with Covid are male and 36.69 per cent are female.
The viral infection has affected people in the age group of 50-59 with 19.45 per cent belonging to this age group.
