New Delhi: While Delhi is witnessing a huge increase in Covid-19 cases, its Health Minister Satyendra Jain has ruled out the possibility of a lockdown.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “I don’t think it (lockdown) will be an effective step now; wearing of masks by everyone will be more beneficial.”
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “Delhi has witnessed a huge surge in daily active cases which is likely to worsen over next few weeks.”
Meanwhile, doctors and paramedics from CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) will be flown in to Delhi to help contain yet another surge of coronavirus cases in the national capital.
A senior Home Ministry official said 75 doctors and 250 paramedical personnel will be deployed as early as possible to help medical staff in Delhi combat the increase in Covid cases.
The personnel are being sent from CAPF units across the country, including as far away as Assam and Tamilnadu. Other States being tapped include Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
