Fresh cases of Covid-19 drop in Chennai


Chennai: The coronavirus count in the city is being maintained at low figures with the number of fresh cases drastically reducing.

According to data given by the Greater Chennai Corporation, this morning the tally of total positive cases was 4,299 which is at two per cent.

Since the lockdown, Chennai has recorded 2,12,970 cases of Covid-19, of which 2,04,842 have recovered over the months. The recovery rate in the city is at 96 per cent.

The most number of recoveries took place at Anna Nagar with 22,613 persons overcoming covid.

It is reported that nearly 3,829 persons have died due to the viral infection.

As per records, 485 persons died in Teynampet, 432 casualties were reported in Anna Nagar and 424 deaths were recorded in Kodambakkam.

On 25 November, 10,263 tests were carried out by the City Corporation’s health department.
Currently, Anna Nagar has 438 positive cases and 424 cases are reported in Teynampet.

Places such as Manali have the least number of cases at 64 and Shollinganallur has 86 positive cases.

Nearly, 60.84 per cent of those affected with Covid are male and 39.16 per cent are female.

The viral infection has most affected people in the age group of 50-59 with 18.90 per cent belonging to this age group.
