Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will chair a high level meeting at the Secretariat in Chennai on Saturday, to decide on more relaxations in Tamilnadu.
With the ongoing Covid-19 rules ending 30 November, the Chief Minister, sources said, will take inputs from officials and medical experts, before deciding on announcing more relaxations.
Meanwhile, Palaniswami praised the officials in Cuddalore district for their proactive measures to minimize the damage caused by cyclone Nivar.
Talking to the media after inspecting the regions affected by the cyclone here, on Thursday, he said, ‘As soon as we received information about the likelihood of the storm crossing Cuddalore district, we took steps to minimise damage.’
He said that besides the collaboration between State and Central government agencies, Revenue Minister R B Udhayakumar stayed overnight at the control room at Ezhilagam and shared with him the inputs received from the districts that were likely to be impacted.
This helped to pass appropriate instructions to the district administration to handle the situation, he said.
“We were anxious during the last two days, but fortunately there was no major damage. The government gave necessary directions to the Collectors in advance,” the Chief Minister added.
