Covid testing drops in Chennai

Chennai: Despite handling a cyclone, health officials have maintained lower active cases of Coronavirus in Chennai.

However, the number of testing for the contagion has dropped drastically. From 10,000 to 11,000 average, only 7,000 persons were tested Thursday.

According to data put out by the Chennai Corporation, this morning the tally of total positive cases was 4,020 which is at two per cent.

Since the lockdown, Chennai has recorded 2,13,801 cases of Covid-19, of which 2,05,944 have recovered over the months. The recovery rate in the city is at 96 per cent.

The most number of recoveries took place at Anna Nagar with 22,711 persons overcoming covid.

It is reported that nearly 3,837 persons have died due to the viral infection.
As per records, 486 persons died in Teynampet, 433 casualties were reported in Anna Nagar and 425 deaths were recorded in Kodambakkam.

On 26 November, 7,496 tests were carried out by the city Corporation’s health department.

Currently, 398 positive cases are reported in Teynampet, 391 cases have been recorded in Kodambakkam and 325 tested positive in Ambattur.

Places such as Manali have the least number of cases at 68 and Shollinganallur has 84 positive cases.

Nearly, 59.94 per cent of those affected with Covid are male and 40.06 per cent are female.

The viral infection has most affected people in the age group of 50-59 with 19.09 per cent belonging to this age group.
