New Delhi: Bracing overnight rains and chilly winds, thousands of protesting farmers assembled at various places along the Haryana borders in Punjab amid mounting tension.
They have been stopped by the Haryana Police while heading towards the national capital for their ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest against the three Central farm laws.
Traffic jam is being reported at Delhi-Gurugram border as police check vehicles. Farmers from Punjab faced water cannons and broke police barriers at the State’s border with Haryana as they pushed towards the national capital Thursday on their Delhi Chalo march against the Centre’s farm laws.
There were traffic snarls at Delhi’s border with police checking vehicles coming in from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Metro services were restricted.
There were face-offs between the protesters and police in Haryana’s Sirsa, Kurukshetra, Fatehabad and Jind districts bordering Congress-ruled Punjab.
