Chennai: Faqir Chand C Kohli, considered as the father of Indian IT industry, has passed away on Thursday. The founding chief executive of sector leader TCS, Kohli was 96.
TCS said it mourns the death of Kohli and added that it was JRD Tata’s insistence that had got the young Kohli to join the Tata Group in 1969.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the demise of FC Kohli.
In a tweet, Modi said, “Shri FC Kohli Ji will be remembered for his pioneering contributions to the world of IT. He was at the forefront of institutionalising a culture of innovation and excellence in the tech industry. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and many admirers.”
