City hospital gets speciality clinic

Chennai: Gem Hospital in the city launched Pancreas Speciality Clinic- an exclusive department to cater to all the diseases of pancreas, recently.

Muthu Palaniappan, governor, Rotary International District 3232, inaugurated the clinic.

Dr C Palanivelu, chairman, Gem Hospitals Group, said, “This department will be a one stop solution for all pancreatic ailments. Pancreatic diseases like pancreatitis, pancreatic stones and pancreatic cancer are on the rise. Various latest diagnostic and treatment facilities including spyglass pancreatoscope, Endoscopic ultrasound 4K and 3D laparoscope, laser and robotic surgery will be a part of this speciality department which is the first of its kind in India”.

Dr S Asokan, CEO and director, said, “This facility will bring together Medical Gastroenterology, Endoscopist, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons to provide comprehensive treatment for all pancreatic diseases under one roof”.

Dr P Senthilnathan, director, said, “To mark the opening of this new department, we are organising a special awareness and consultation camp for all patients with pancreatic diseases between 7- 18 December 2020. People can avail free consultation and treatment at subsidised cost during the above period. The entire hospital building will be illuminated with purple colour at night for ten days to create awareness about pancreatic cancer”.
