Chennai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been placed under house arrest, alleged the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday.
According to sources, party members have stated that since Kejriwal had visited the Singhu border, to oversee the arrangements made for the protesting farmers, he has been placed under house arrest.
The official Twitter handle of the party put up a post that nobody has been allowed to leave or enter Kejriwal’s residence.
Sources from the party claimed that under the Home Ministry’s orders, the police have got the three mayors of Delhi’s various Municipalities to protest before the Chief Minister’s home, creating a pretext for his detainment.
As a result of which, the place has been barricaded completely. “All of the CM’s official meetings have been cancelled for the day given the circumstances,” AAP officials said.
However the allegations were strongly denied by the Delhi police, which tweeted a picture of the CM’s house, and said that Kejriwal “exercises the right to free movement within the law of the land”.
