Popular TV actress found dead in city hotel

Chennai: Popular serial actress Chitra (29) was found dead early this morning at a star hotel in the city.

According to sources, she had finished shooting at EVP film city and had returned to the hotel in Nazarathpet, where she had been staying with her fiancee Hemanth.

At around 2.30 am, she is said to have asked Hemanth to go out, as she wanted to take a bath.

According to him, when she failed to open the door for a long time, he asked for a duplicate key and opened it, and reportedly found her hanging from the fan with a saree.

Chitra who was engaged to Hemanth, a city businessman in August, was due to get married in a few months time.

The actress, who is extremely popular on social media, had rose to fame playing one of the central roles in ‘Pandian Stores’, that is being aired in Star Vijay channel.

While reasons for her move are unclear, her sudden death has sent her fans and the small screen fraternity to shock.

Following her death, the Nazarathpet police have filed a case and are investigating.

In June this year, two other TV actors, who were siblings, ended their lives at their residence in Kodungaiyur. The reason was found to be financial troubles.
