DMK trying to stop Pongal gift scheme: TN CM

Namakkal: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today said that the DMK is trying to stop the Pongal gift scheme of the State government.

Commencing his election campaign from Namakkal today, Palaniswami said that DMK president M K Stalin does not like when something good happens to the public.

Palaniswami carried out door to door campaign at the Mudhalaipaadi area in Namakkal. Before begining his campaign, Palaniswami offered prayers at the Namakkal Lord Anjaneyar temple.

“Stalin is making false accusations that AIADMK cadres are distributing the tokens for the Pongal gift and cash,” he said.

He also said that Namakkal has always been AIADMK’s fort. “AIADMK has won more elections in Namakkal and I am happy to start my election campaign here,” he said.

Palaniswami added that it was the AIADMK government that brought 7.5 per cent reservation for government school students in medical colleges.

AIADMK kickstarted its election campaign in Salem following which a meeting was held in Chennai.
