Chennai: Days after actor Rajinikanth bid adieu to politics without taking the eagerly-awaited plunge, Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) today announced that its members are free to join any political party of their choice if they so desired.
In a statement here, RMM administrator V M Sudhakar said those wishing to join and work in other political party are free to do so after quitting the RMM. But the members should not forget that even if they join another party, they were fans of Rajinikanth.
After announcing that his political entry was confirmed and that he would unveil political plans on the 2021 New Year eve, Rajini made a U-turn and said he was not entering politics and not starting a political party in view of his health condition and the corona pandemic.
After his fans staged a protest demonstration urging the actor to reconsider his decision, Rajini categorically stated that he was firm in his decision and appealed to them not to cause him more pain by organising such protests.
Remember, three district secretaries of Rajini Makkal Mandram and senior office-bearers on Sunday joined the DMK in the presence of party president M K Stalin.
A DMK press release said Thoothukudi district secretary A Joseph Stalin, Ramanathapurm district secretary K Senthil Selvananth, Theni district secretary R Ganesan, IT wing leader K Saravanan, Ramanathampuram disrict deputy secretary A Senthilvel and traders’ union secretary S Muruganandam joined the party.
