Chennai: Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan got himself inoculated in Trichy General Hospital, while he was inspecting the vaccination drive in Tiruchi.
The world’s largest Covid vaccination drive was rolled in the country on 16 January. Accordingly, Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami launched the Covid-19 vaccination drive at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai on Saturday. The healthcare workers were given the shot in the presence of deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
Following this, Tamilnadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan inspected the vaccination drive in Trichy district. During the inspection, he inoculated himself with the Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin. Following which, 14 health workers were administered with Covaxin and 10 others opted for Covishield.
Radhakrishnan said, he took the vaccine shot to create awareness among the public and to encourage the frontline warriors to take up the Covid vaccine as a precautionary measure.
Further he praised the doctors and nurses who came forward to take the first jabs.
