Chennai: VK Sasikala, the aide of former Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, was formally released from the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru today.
Jail officials completed all formalities with regard to Sasikala’s release from the hospital, where she is being treated and gave her release order, sources said.
She is likely to come to Chennai within a week’s time.
Sasikala who has been diagnosed with Covid-19 is currently getting treated at the Victoria Hospital, where she is said to be ‘stable’.
“Once she is handed over to her relatives, it is their call on whether she shall continue taking treatment at Bengaluru or will be taken to Chennai,” sources added.
Meanwhile, AMMK party workers are gearing up to welcome Sasikala in a grand manner, with some of the cadre already waiting in Bengaluru to receive her.
The close aide of former CM J Jayalalithaa has been serving a four-year-term at the Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru, after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.
