Chennai: Asserting that the DMDK was till now with the ruling AIADMK-led Front, its treasurer Premalatha Vijayakanth said seat sharing talks with the the allies for the ensuing Tamilnadu Assembly polls, should commence without any further delay.
Talking to reporters after holding consultations with party district secretaries and office-bearers, Premalatha said AIADMK should immediately start the seat sharing talks with the allies.
Stating that any delay in the talks would not be helpful for any one as the time was short for the elections, she said till date the DMDK was with the AIADMK-led Front, which also has the BJP, TMC and other parties.
Observing that DMDK was ready for elections in all the 234 constituencies and that it had completed all work including appointing booth agents, Premalatha said a final decision on the alliance would be taken at the party’s Executive and
General Council.
“Our Captain (Party Founder and actor-politician Vijayakanth) will take a decision on whether to face the polls as an ally of the AIADMK or to go it alone based on the Party cadres’ mood and announce it,” she added.
Asked whether she would contest the polls, she said no decision has not been taken so far.
“If the Captain wishes so and the DMDK workers wanted me to contest, my voice will definitely be heard in the State Legislative Assembly”.
Earlier, while talking to reporters at Dharmapuri a few days back, Premalatha said the DMDK expects to be allotted 41 seats in the AIADMK-led alliance for the coming elections, similar to the arrangement with the ruling party in 2011.
