Prince of Arcot receives Arabic Thirukkural CD from CM

Chennai: Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, received the ’Thirukkural’ Arabic Audio CD, which was released by Chief Minister Edapaddi Palaniswami, at the Secretariat, on Monday.

A press release said, the CD was produced by International Institute of Tamil Studies, government of Tamilnadu and the event was organised by Tamil Language Development and Tamil Culture Department, under the Directorship of Dr G Vijayraghavan and the Arabic translation, recitation and coordination by Dr A Jahir Husain, Arabic Department, University of Madras.

The Prince thanked the Chief Minister for having invited him for the CD release event and he praised ‘Thirukural’, as a classic Tamil Language text, consisting of 1,330 short couplets of seven words each, which are one of the ancient poetries, considered as the greatest works on ethics, morality, universality and secularism, the Prince said.

Among others, who were present were the State Minister for Tamil Language and Culture, K Pandiarajan, Chief Secretary Rajeev Ranjan, Dewan to the Prince of Arcot Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali and other officials.
