Chennai: Affiliated to Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Guindy and approved by the National Medical Commission, New Delhi, Indira Medical College and Hospitals (IMCH) commenced its operations in Thiruvallur district recently.
It has an intake capacity of 75 boy and 68 girl students this year (total 143).
Kavitha Ramu, Director, Integrated Child Development Services and Mayil Vahanan Natarajan, former Vice-Chancellor of Dr MGR Medical University took part in the formal lighting of the lamp ceremony and officially inaugurated the medical college.
V G Rajendran, chairman, Indira Education and Charitable Trust, said, ‘this is an initiative to eradicate fear from the minds of the public – fear of disease and the scarier prospect of not being able to afford cure’.
Indira Rajendran, managing trustee, said, ‘IMCH will provide a platform for brilliant and compassionate scholars to become world-class professionals, unlocking their full potential’.
