Tamilnadu’s interim budget to be presented today

Chennai: With just a couple of months left for the Assembly polls in Tamilnadu, the State’s interim budget will be presented today at the Kalaivanar Arangam.

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will table the budget, which will be his 11th in power.

According to sources, a debate will be held following OPS’ speech. However, opposition parties are likely to boycott today’s happenings, similar to the first session, which commenced on 2 February and ended on 5 February.

During today’s budget, the government will unveil portraits of legendary freedom fighters and politicians, at the Secretariat.

A business advisory meeting will be held, following which the number of debate days will be finalised, it is said.

The session to be taken over by OPS, who also holds the finance portfolio, is expected to have some key announcements, and will be convened by Tamilnadu Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal.

The government is also expected to release details regarding Tamilnadu’s fiscal deficit, revenue generation and more.
