Chennai: Opposition DMK hit out at the AIADMK government after a top cop was accused of sexual harassment by a female IPS officer.
After the accused Rajesh Das, Special DGP (Law and Order), was named by the victim in an official complaint, leader of the Opposition in the Tamilnadu Assembly and DMK President M K Stalin criticised the government on the same.
He tweeted, “Why is the Chief Minister saving Das against whom a sexual harassment complaint has been filed? Earlier, the complaint on I G Murugan too was similarly closed. He earlier saved the accused AIADMK members in the Pollachi case too”.
Similarly, DMK MP Kanimozhi said in a tweet, “The protector also needs protection during ADMK rule. When a woman IPS officer is sexually harassed by a higher ranked officer and the CM takes no notice of it, what hope do ‘ordinary’ women have in this regime?”.
Meanwhile, the TN government set up a six-member committee to probe the alleged sexual harassment complaint and placed Das on ‘compulsory wait’.
