Chennai: As soon people think of North Chennai, they are mostly reminded of rowdyism and fights, as that is what shown in most of the movies. However, that is not the real case, as North Chennai has several emotions and different kinds of people, who lead the same lives as others outside the area.
Very few creators authentically understand the lifestyle of those living in North Chennai. One among them is writer K Aravind Kumar. He has told several stories of North Chennai through his writing in the past few years. Born in Kasimedu and currently residing at Chrompet, Aravind’s writings are reflective of the life of those residing in North Chennai.
Last year a book written by him titled ‘Desamma’, which is a compilation of several short stories was released.
It was received well by the readers and even was awarded as the best short stories compilation book by Naveena Thaazhvaram.
The book has 14 short stories and five of them reflects the life of people in North Chennai. The stories take us to their world and speak about their expectations, disappointments, struggles and how they find happiness among all these.
Following this, he has now released a new book which is also a compilation of short stories. Titled ‘Kaatayi’, it has been released by Nattrinai Publication. This book also consists of short stories based on North Chennai. One of the stories speaks about how the Dravidian politics has impacted the life of the people in North Chennai. Other stories has also grabbed the attention of the readers.
While Desamma is mostly a reflection of the author’s experience, Kaatayi speaks in depth about the pain of separation.
