Modi, leaders extend International Women’s Day greetings

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and other leaders have extended International Women’s Day (IWD) greetings.

In a tweet, Modi said, “Saluting our indomitable #NariShakti on International Women’s Day! India takes pride in the many accomplishments of the women of our nation. It is our Government’s honour to be getting the opportunity to work towards furthering women empowerment across a wide range of sectors.”

In his message, Purohit said, “on the occasion of International Women’s Day, I extend my best wishes and warm greetings to all the Women of India as well as to those all over the world.”

“This is the day to celebrate the contributions of the women in the different facets of life, personal and professional. This day is an occasion to show respect to women for their crucial role and untiring efforts in building better society, nation and world,” he said, according to a Raj Bhavan release.

“As we salute and respect our Nation as Mother India today, let us reaffirm the commitment to gender equality and the true empowerment of women,” Purohit said.

“Let us rededicate our efforts to support their development and endeavors to reach their full potential, realise their aspirations and restore the safety, dignity and unfettered equality that is their sacred right,” he said.
