Alarming increase of Covid cases in TN, 700 teams formed

Chennai: For the third consecutive day, Tamilnadu recorded more than 600 cases on Friday.

The State posted 670 new cases of Covid-19, including a person who came from the United Arab Emirates on Friday.

With these, the total number of virus cases in the State has gone up to 8,58,272. As the cases are increasing once again, the government has formed 700 special teams across Tamilnadu to keep the spread under control.

Such is the spike that 30 of the 37 districts reported more new cases than the number of recoveries, showed the bulletin from the State Health Department on Friday.

Three other districts had an equal number of new cases and discharges, leaving just four districts that had more recoveries than fresh cases.

Tamilnadu State Disaster Management Authority has announced in official social media page: “Daily Corona positive cases have increased by 51.81 % in the past 16 days. Let us follow covid safety Precautions strictly. Wear mask.Keep distance. Avoid crowded places.”

It added: “Let us conserve the hard earned victory over Corona. Let us respect the sacrifices of Frontline workers.”
