New Delhi: BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, Ram Swaroop Sharma, was found dead at his residence in New Delhi today. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
Sharma, 62, was found hanging in his room, Delhi Police PRO Chinmoy Biswal said. He was taken to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide, the police said, adding that no suicide note was found from the spot.
Sharma was elected from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. He was a Member of the Standing Committee on External Affairs and the Consultative Committee, Ministry of External Affairs.
Born at Jalpehar village in Mandi district on 10 June, 1958, Sharma was a two-time MP, elected in 2014 and 2019.
Incidentally, Sharma took the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine last week on 13 March.
