Chennai: Tamilnadu is poised for a five-cornered contest in the Assembly election this time. There is a tough contest between the ruling AIADMK, the main opposition DMK, AMMK-DMDK, Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam and Seeman’s Naam Tamizhar.
Though the AIADMK and the DMK are the main contestants for the top slot, new players are threatening to play the spoiler in many constituencies.
There are few other players too – Puthiya Tamizhagam of Dr K Krishnasamy and a new outfit launched by former bureaucrat U Sagayam.
The AIADMK is aligned with parties such as the BJP, the PMK and the TMC. The DMK is tied up with the Congress, the VCK, the MDMK and the Left parties among others.
Leaders of almost the all the parties have already started campaigns, which are expected to reach a feverish pitch in the days to come.
