Chennai: DMDK president Vijayakanth, despite his fragile health, will start campaigning for the 6 April Assembly elections today.
Party sources said he would tour Gummidipoondi and Tiruttani constituencies, both located close to Chennai, today and would meet the public.
“He will seek votes for the DMDK’s Tiruttani candidate Krishnamurthy and Gummidipoondi contestant Dilli,” sources added.
In the days to come, he is expected to tour other constituencies too. But his campaign will be mainly in and around Chennai, sources stated.
Days after exiting the AIADMK-led alliance over a seat-sharing dispute, DMDK recently finalised an election partnership with TTV Dhinakaran’s Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK).
According to the alliance deal, the actor-politician’s party will contest 60 of the State’s 234 seats.
