Ramakrishna Mission wins multiple recognitions

Chennai: The 111th annual general meeting of the Ramakrishna Mission was held at Belur Math recently.

According to a synopsis of the report presented in the meeting, the mission won recognitions from the University Grants Commission, which has selected RKMVERI (deemed university), the College of Education (of Coimbatore Mission Vidyalaya) and the Sikshanamandira (of Saradapitha centre, Belur, Howrah ) as mentor institutions for helping other higher education institutions to improve their quality and get NAAC accreditation.

Also, the autonomous status of Vivekananda College of Chennai Vidyapith has been extended for 10 years and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology (MST), Government of India has recognised Vivekananda Centenary College of Rahara centre, Kolkata as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO).

The report further said new branch centres of the Ramakrishna Mission were started in Kasundia in Howrah, West Bengal; Rourkela, Odisha; and Villupuram, A new branch centre of the Ramakrishna Math was started at Purnea in Bihar.
