Chennai: A panel has been constituted to appoint the next Vice-Chancellor of Anna University.
The new committee headed by Jawaharlal University Vice-Chancellor Jagadish Kumar will shortlist names for the new Vice-Chancellor for Anna University, Tamilnadu’s premier higher education institute and the State’s nodal body for engineering courses.
It may be noted that the term of the present Vice-Chancellor M K Surappa comes to an end on 13 April.
In February, the Tamilnadu government told the Madras High Court that the inquiry commission appointed to probe complaints of financial irregularity against Surappa will not pass any orders against him till 5 April.
Advocate-General Vijay Narayan gave this undertaking while seeking two weeks to file a counter to Surappa’s plea, which challenged the appointment of the commission.
The commission, headed by former high court judge P Kalaiyarasan, was appointed by the State government on 11 November, 2020.
