New Delhi: In what said to be worrying for Indians, the Coronavirus touched all-time high of 1,03,558 cases, thus taking the total tally to 1,25,89,067 today.
According to Union Health Ministry data released this morning, the single-day rise in cases surpassed the earlier peak of 97,894 infections reported on 17 September, last year, making it the highest since the pandemic began in India, while the death toll increased to 1,65,101 with 478 new fatalities.
Registering a steady increase for the 26th day in row, the active cases have increased to 7,41,830 and the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,16,82,136.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September. It went past 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, crossed 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and surpassed the one-crore mark on 19 December.
According to the ICMR, 24,90,19,657 samples have been tested up to 4 April with 8,93,749 samples being tested on Sunday.
