Celebrating Tamil women in Singapore

Chennai: In commemoration with the 2021 International Women’s Day and the declaration of Year (2021) of Celebrating SG women by Singapore government, Annamalai University Alumni Association (Singapore chapter) held a virtual conference recently centering on the theme ‘sky is the limit’ featuring discussion with empowering talks from some of the eminent women speakers.

The conference set down some good benchmarks for expectation and enhancement on women’s identity, well-being and empowerment.

By encouraging open talk and welcoming audience engagement throughout the ‘question-answer’ session, the audience witnessed Sarojini Padmanathan, Viji Jagadeesh PBM, Dr Kannathal Natarajan, Mahalakshmi Venkatraman and Alamelu Iynkaran share their unique experiences and perspectives.

Sarojini Padmanathan who has been with the Singapore public service for over 36 years joined the occasion as guest speaker and delivered the keynote speech. Being an experienced coach in training and development with family life education, she is one of the members of the Indian Programmes Advisory Committee and sits on Ministry of Social and Family Development’s Tribunal for the maintenance of parents.
