Coronavirus: Door-to-door checking starts in Chennai

Chennai: With the number of coronavirus cases in Tamilnadu increasing with each passing day, the Greater Chennai Corporation has restarted the process of door-to-door checking.

Sources said that those with symptoms will be taken to the hospital. Officials will also ask people above 45 years to take the Covid vaccination.

Sources said that more than 12,000 personnel will be deployed to carry out the checking.

It is said that people within the age group of 30-39 are the most affected in Chennai.

Corporation officials said that 20.14 per cent within 30-39 years, 18.37 per cent between 40-49 years, 17.97 per cent between 50-59 years and 11.13 per cent between 60 to 69 years are affected by the virus.

Apart from this 17.93 per cent of those infected are between the age of 20-29 and 1.60 per cent of children below age 9 are infected.

Corporation sources said that with 59.71 per cent men are more infected by the virus.

Meanwhile, Madurai Corporation has started to block the streets where coronavirus positive cases are reported. The action has been taken as more number of cases are reported in Madurai. At present there are more than 700 active cases in Madurai.
