Covid spread: PM to hold crucial meet with CMs today, gets 2nd dose vaccine

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual meeting with Chief Ministers of all States today to discuss the current Covid-19 situation and the vaccination strategy ahead as the country reels under the second wave of infections.

Modi’s last interaction with Chief Ministers was on 17 March during which he had expressed concern over the rise in Covid-19 cases in parts of the country and called for ‘quick and decisive’ steps to check the ’emerging second peak’.

The meeting comes at a time when India has logged a record over 126,200 daily cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Wednesday, which has compelled more regions across the country to reintroduce lockdown-like curbs to break the chain of transmission.

Meanwhile, Modi received his second dose of the Covid vaccine today at Delhi’s AIIMS – 37 days after his first shot – and urged all those eligible to get inoculated against the deadly virus.

“Got my second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at AIIMS today. Vaccination is among the few ways we have, to defeat the virus. If you are eligible for the vaccine, get your shot soon,” Modi tweeted.
