Chennai: Despite the Covid outbreak, all hopes are not lost for automotive industry, if one is to go by inputs from stakeholders.

‘NT’  compiles latest data from the sector, which is one of the leading contributors to the economic growth.

India’s electric mobility sector is on a steady road to recovery, post a lockdown-induced dip in sales. The sector registered nearly 1.35 lakh EVs in FY21, according to CEEW Centre for Energy Finance’s (CEEW-CEF) electric mobility dashboard.

The updated dashboard highlighted that electric vehicle (EV) registrations formed 0.88 per cent of all vehicle registrations in the last financial year – the highest share ever achieved. The Indian automobile market has registered over 6.38 lakh EVs since 2011-12.

India’s top sellers

For the fourth consecutive year, India’s five top selling cars come from Maruti Suzuki stable, the automaker has said.

These include Swift at the number one position with over 1.72 lakh units, followed by Baleno with 1.63 lakh units. WagonR grabbed the third position with 1.60 lakh units while Alto and Dzire finished fourth and fifth with 1.59 lakh units and 1.28 lakh units respectively.

S-CNG vehicles

With an endeavour to offer customers environment-friendly, safe and fuel efficient vehicles, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold over 1.57 lakh factory-fitted S-CNG vehicles in FY2020-21.

This is the highest-ever S-CNG car sales by the company. It offers a range of factory-fitted CNG cars including Alto, Celerio, Wagon-R, S-PRESSO, Eeco, Ertiga, Tour S and Super Carry.

20 years of  3230

New Holland Agriculture is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its 3230 tractor model.

Since the 3230’s launch in 2001, New Holland has expanded the model’s legacy with variants such as the 3230 Nx, 3230 Tx and 3230 Tx Super during its two decades in production.
