Plus Two exams to be postponed in TN?

Chennai: With the number of coronavirus cases increasing in the State with each passing day, School Education Department has convened a meeting today to decide about holding the clas 12 board exams.

At present the exam is scheduled to be held from 3 May. Around 8 lakh students from class 12 will appear for Tamilnadu Board Exam 2021. This year, the TN Board exams have been delayed due to the rise in Covid 19 cases in the State.

It may be noted that the Union Government on Wednesday postponed the CBSE Class 12 board exams and cancelled the Class 10 exams amid growing concerns over the surge in Covid-19 infections in the country.

For the Class 12 exam, the Ministry will review the situation on 1 June to decide fresh dates and make an announcement at least two weeks before the start of the exams.

The Class 10 and 12 exams were earlier scheduled to start May 4. Meanwhile, Madras High Court has asked the State government to conduct arrears exams for college students within eight weeks.

Responding to this, the State government said that online exams will be conducted.
The Tamilnadu government informed the Madras high court that no student would be declared a pass without attending an online exam.

“We have decided to abide by the guidelines of the UGC. It will be mandatory for all students who have arrears to attend online exams,” advocate-general Vijay Narayan said.
