Covid-19: India records 2,34,692 new cases and 1,341 deaths

New Delhi: With 2,34,692 fresh infections, India’s Coronavirus caseload rose to 1,45,26,609  today.

According to Union Health Ministry data, the country’s death toll reached to 1,75,649 with 1,341 new fatalities, the highest single-day deaths so far.

The number of active Coronavirus cases in the country climbed to 16,79,740 and the number of people who have recuperated from the disease has gone up to 1,26,71,220.

India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August last year, the 30-lakh mark on 23 August, the 40-lakh mark on 5 September and the 50-lakh mark on 16 September.

It went past 60 lakh on 28 September last year, 70 lakh on 11 October, 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and the one-crore mark on 19 December.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 26,49,72,022 samples have so far been tested for the viral disease in the country, including 14,95,397 on Friday.
