Chennai: Expressing shock at actor Vivek’s death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today tweeted, “The untimely demise of noted actor Vivek has left many saddened.”
Modi added: “His comic timing and intelligent dialogues entertained people. Both in his films and his life, his concern for the environment and society shone through. Condolences to his family, friends and admirers. Om Shanti.”
State Minister D Jayakumar offered his tributes visiting Vivek ‘s house and garlanding his mortal remains.
DMK president M K Stalin in his condolence, said that the news about the actor’s demise comes as a shock. “A multi-talented person, Vivek created awareness among the people through his comedy and acting. He had a special affection towards Kalaignar. He was also very active in social initiatives like tree-planting. Why did nature snatch a person like Vivek, who still had the potential to do more, so early?” he said, offering DMK’s condolences to his family and fans.
BJP leader Annamalai tweeted, “More than an actor, Chinna Kalaivanar Vivek was a social reformer who subtly used the powerful medium of cinema to convey very progressive thoughts. He dedicated his last decade to Green Kalam Project to plant one crore saplings He had left a very deep imprint on us! Om Shanti.”
Several leaders also reminisced about his contributions towards creating social awareness on sensitive topics like family planning, idol worship, superstitions etc.
Film personalities including Suriya, Jyothika, director Shankar, Karthi, Nasser, Vairamuthu, Arun Vijay, Ravimaria, Ganesh Venkatram, Goundamani, Harish Kalyan, Mayilsamy, M S Baskar, Vaiyapuri, Sathish among others condoled his death.
