Avoid public reception for Ministers: Stalin tells DMK cadres

Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has told the DMK cadres not to organise public reception events for Ministers and MLAs during their visit to their native districts in view of the Covid pandemic.

Referring to some incidents of Ministers being accorded public reception during their visit, Stalin, in a statement here, said such receptions should be avoided in view of the pandemic.

He also advised them not to erect billboards and banners and if any one violated this, Ministers and MLAs should take action against them.

He also said the DMK partymen should focus their attention on efforts to prevent the spread of Covid.

Stalin also appealed to people, visiting him to handover Covid relief contributions to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund, to avoid presenting shawls and bouquets and instead present him with books.

Meanwhile, in a letter to the party cadres, Stalin asked them to resume the ‘Ondrinaivom Vaa’ programme to help people during the Covid-19 pandemic.

While the government has been providing relief measures to people, DMK MLAs, MPs, party office bearers and cadres must involve themselves in field work to fulfil the basic needs of the people during the pandemic.
