New Delhi: Delhi has recorded the highest-ever rainfall in 24 hours in May as Cyclone Tauktae impacted the weather of the national capital and its surrounding areas after leaving a trail of destruction on the western coast where it had made landfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places over Uttarakhand, heavy rainfall at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and isolated to scattered showers over all the other parts of Northwest India.
Meanwhile, Defence ships and offshore vessels of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) recovered 26 bodies Wednesday from the Arabian Sea where barge P305 working for ONGC sank following Cyclone Tauktae. Search continues for at least 61 more people who remain missing.
