Chennai: Tamilnadu continued to record a dip in fresh Covid-19 cases, but registered an increase in fatalities on Tuesday, logging 34,285 infections and 468 deaths.
The new cases took the caseload to 19.11 lakh, while the fatalities pushed the toll to 21,340.
Tamilnadu on Tuesday reported 468 Covid deaths – the highest so far. After 28,745 people were discharged, there were 3.06 lakh patients.
On an average, the state tests at least 1.6 lakh people every day. Despite reporting the highest number of fresh cases in the country, the daily cases in the State have been coming down steadily. The active cases, however, continue to see a slow but steady climb.
On Monday, the state logged 404 deaths, as many as 422 Covid related fatalities were reported on Sunday, and on Saturday, the State saw 448 deaths. Meanwhile, on 21 May, Tamilnadu logged 467 deaths.
