On Karunanidhi’s birth anniversary, Stalin starts multiple schemes

Chennai: Today is the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister and late DMK supremo M Karunanidhi. To mark this, Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin is flagging off various schemes.

The second phase distribution of Rs 2,000 to all the ration-card holders, distribution of Rs 4,000 to every temple priests and workers without guaranteed monthly salary, financial aid to frontline workers including journalists who lost their lives to Covid-19, launch of a kit containing 14 grocery items and presenting of benefits under ‘Chief Minister in your constituency’ scheme are among the initiatives that are being launched today.

Stalin recently advised his party workers to not organise any public celebrations during lockdown for the birth anniversary of Karunanidhi.

Don’t organise any celebration for Kalaignar’s birthday in public since it is a lockdown period. Our party founder Anna propounded duty, dignity and discipline. In that, our leader Kalaignar has repeatedly emphasised discipline many times, Stalin said, in his letter to the party cadre.

Celebrate Karunanidhi’s birthday by abiding with the restrictions and paying floral tributes to his portrait at home, the Chief Minister said, urging his cadre to imbibe his principles and deliver food and essential supplies expected by the poor people at their doorstep.
