Uttar Pradesh: Amid speculation the BJP’s national leadership is worried about its government in Uttar Pradesh – where the party’s own MLAs and MPs have gone public with grievances – Prime Minister Narendra Modi not tweeting birthday wishes to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has raised eyebrows.
Some netizens and journalists observed that there is no birthday greetings for the UP Chief Minister from the party’s top brass and questioned if all was well between Adityanath and the central leadership.
However, reports also pointed out Modi had, in fact, spoken to Yogi Adityanath on the phone on Saturday and wished him on his birthday.
BJP national vice-president Radha Mohan Singh, on Sunday, dismissed the possibility of an imminent cabinet reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh and shot down the speculation over a ‘rift’ between Adityanath and Modi.
The UP Assembly elections are due next year, and a recent meeting of B L Santosh, BJP’s national general secretary (organisation), with the state leaders has given rise to a number of speculations and, thus, the questions.
