Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister M K Stalin is visiting Cauvery basin districts Tiruchi and Thanjavur today to review and inspect desilting work undertaken in irrigation channels to ensure smooth flow of Cauvery water. He will also visit his home district Tiruvarur.
On Saturday, he will visit Salem district to review Covid control measures and release water from Mettur dam.
Stalin had last week announced that the sluices of the Mettur dam would be opened on the customary date of 12 June for the benefit of farmers in the Cauvery delta region.
Water from the Mettur dam is expected to benefit over 5.21 lakh acres of farmlands in Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Pudukkottai and Cuddalore districts.
