Chennai: YouTuber PUBG Madan, who has been facing charges of hosting obscene chats with minors and women and live streaming gaming videos, was on Friday arrested by the Cyber Crime Wing police in Dharmapuri district.
He was arrested from a lodge in Dharmapuri, sources said. He was being brought to Chennai for judicial remand.
The arrest of Madan Manikkam, also known as PUBG Madan, comes a couple of days after his wife Krithika was arrested and remanded in judicial custody last evening.
As complaints started pouring in, Madan went missing and police have launched a manhunt to trace him, leading to his arrest in Dharmapuri.
Acting on complaints, police have registered a case under the provision of Information Technology Act and IPC against Madan and his wife, who are natives of Salem.
After suffering losses in an eatery business, Madan launched a YouTube channel to teach tricks to play video games such as PUBG in 2019. Despite the government imposing a ban on PUBG, he continued to livestream videos through his channels.
Police arrested Kiruthika, who was a group administrator, after confirming that the anonymous woman with whom Madan often conversed in an obscene manner was his wife.
Police recovered laptops, computers and mobile phones from their house at Vengavasal. Police also seized two luxury cars and also freezed his bank account.
